Job Description – Underwriting Specialist

Under the supervision of the Presiding Manager and Executive Team, the Underwriting Specialist will aid in the closings of an expanding portfolio of real estate developments to be financed with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (‘LIHTC’).


Job Duties

·         Assists with reviewing due diligence documents for accuracy and completeness and organizing documents and maintaining internal closing checklist

·         Participates in deal closing calls

·         Maintains relationships with the Federal Syndicator and State Syndicator  

·         Reviews due diligence documentation, including, but not limited to, the partnership agreement and other legal documents

·         Seeks available funding sources by assisting with the completion of applications for development that include tax credits, alternative funding sources and grants

·         Reviews documents and projections related to the lender commitments, equity commitments, construction budgets, operating pro forma, and pro forma underwriting analysis

·         Assists in the preparation of applications and other materials by state agencies and other organizations related to a preliminary, carryover and final allocation of tax credits

·         Other duties as requested



·         Motivated and detail-oriented

·         Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications and financial spreadsheets

·         Highly organized with effective analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to work well with others in a team environment

·         Proven strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Real estate and/or LIHTC industry experience is preferred



·         Located in Springfield, Missouri

·         Reports to Presiding Manager and Executive Team

·         Office environment
